The Ferrari 308 is one of the most recognizable and beloved models from Ferrari’s classic era. Produced between 1975 and 1985, it became the car that positioned Ferrari firmly on the global stage. The design was created by Pininfarina under the direction of Leonardo Fioravanti, the same designer responsible for icons such as the Daytona, the 512 Berlinetta Boxer, and the 288 GTO.
At the heart of the 308 lies a 3.0-liter V8, mounted transversely behind the seats and paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox featuring Ferrari’s iconic open gated shifter. Early models were equipped with 2-valve heads, but from 1983 onwards Ferrari introduced the Quattrovalvole (QV) engine, featuring four valves per cylinder.
This upgrade resulted in improved power, better reliability, and a more refined driving experience.
The 308 combines a sharp, low front end with beautifully sculpted lines, a wide stance, and the iconic twin round taillights. The GTS model features a removable targa roof, adding an extra dimension to the driving pleasure.
Its worldwide fame increased significantly thanks to its starring role in the TV series Today, the Ferrari 308 is a highly sought-after classic Ferrari. It is relatively affordable to maintain (compared to other models of the era), increasing in value, and an absolute pleasure to drive. The QV models (1983–1985) are widely regarded as the most desirable, thanks to their improved performance and mechanical robustness.
